About the Role
This is a 14-month maternity cover role for a talented communications professional to lead G Adventures' communications across the EMEA region (UK, Ireland, and DACH). You will manage an established PR market, work with diverse media, and shape communications across Europe, leveraging a strong pipeline of stories and innovative initiatives. The role requires a self-starter with outstanding media relationships, a strong understanding of the travel industry, and the ability to balance strategic planning with daily media relations in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the communications strategy for the EMEA region.
- Act as the communications expert for the region, identifying opportunities to raise awareness.
- Build on G Adventures' strong reputation by securing impactful coverage across various media.
- Identify and develop newsworthy announcements, human-interest stories, and timely media opportunities.
- Write and distribute press releases, targeted pitches, and other media materials.
- Develop and execute creative PR campaigns and integrated communications initiatives.
- Launch major business initiatives, product launches, and campaigns with senior leaders.
- Secure and support interviews and media appearances for senior leaders.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver media, consumer, and industry events across the region.
- Work closely with Planeterra to share stories about community tourism's impact.
- Manage all press office activity, including responding to media enquiries and monitoring coverage.
- Plan and deliver press trips for media and content creators.
- Develop strategic partnerships with content creators.
- Manage G Adventures' PR agency in Germany.
- Maintain and grow relationships with tourism boards, airline partners, and other strategic partners.
- Identify, curate, and submit industry award entries.
- Support regional marketing and sales teams at events.
- Report regularly on communications performance against KPIs.
- Work alongside the global critical incident team to develop and deliver media responses during crisis situations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years' experience in PR or communications (agency or in-house).
- Extensive experience working within the travel industry.
- Strong understanding of both consumer and trade media.
- Exceptional network of media contacts across travel and consumer outlets.
- Proven track record of securing top-tier media coverage and developing creative campaigns.
- Experience identifying and developing data-driven stories.
- Strong understanding of digital PR and experience with SEO and AI search strategies is preferable.
- Experience developing and managing content creator partnerships.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
- Outstanding organisation and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing external PR agencies is desirable.
- Collaborative mindset and experience working across international teams.
- Ability to travel regionally and internationally when required.
- Experience hosting press trips is desirable.
