About the Role

The Digital Trading Director will lead commercial performance, growth strategy, and trading operations for owned eCommerce sites and third-party marketplace partners across Europe. This role owns the end-to-end digital trading strategy, ensuring a unified approach to commercial planning, customer experience, product assortment, pricing, promotions, and trading execution to drive profitable revenue growth and deliver best-in-class digital experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Own sales, profit, and commercial performance across European eCommerce and marketplace channels.
  • Develop and execute the regional digital trading strategy to deliver ambitious growth targets.
  • Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly trading reviews, identifying risks, opportunities, and actions.
  • Drive a unified commercial calendar across owned sites and marketplace partners.
  • Establish clear KPI frameworks and reporting to monitor performance and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Lead forecasting and demand planning processes in partnership with Finance and Buying & Inventory teams.
  • Oversee day-to-day trading of owned digital storefronts across Europe.
  • Work with the Digital Analyst to drive improvements in bounce rate, ATC, checkout completion, conversion, average order value, customer acquisition, and retention.
  • Partner with UX, Site Merchandising, and Testing & Optimisation teams to continually enhance the customer journey.
  • Ensure effective execution of campaigns, product launches, promotional events, and seasonal trading initiatives.
  • Leverage customer and behavioural data to inform trading decisions and growth opportunities.
  • Define and execute marketplace growth strategy across partners including Zalando, Veepee, Secret Sales, BestSecret, and future marketplace opportunities.
  • Build strong strategic relationships with marketplace partners to maximise visibility, sales performance, and commercial opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand product and/or market assortment, improve profitability, and unlock new customer acquisition channels.
  • Lead negotiations and annual planning processes with marketplace partners.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to ensure a competitive marketplace proposition.
  • Champion a test-and-learn culture across all digital channels.
  • Partner with Digital Optimisation & Testing & marketing to improve bounce rate, ATC, CCR, conversion, customer engagement, and commercial performance.
  • Use data and analytics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team across Digital Trading, Marketplace, Site Merchandising, and Testing & Optimisation functions.
  • Build capability within the team through succession planning, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative, commercially focused culture built around accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Champion cross-functional ways of working to ensure teams remain aligned against shared business objectives.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in Digital Trading, eCommerce, or Omnichannel leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of delivering profitable revenue growth within large-scale eCommerce businesses.
  • Strong experience managing both owned digital channels and marketplace businesses.
  • Experience working with major European marketplace partners such as Zalando, Veepee, Secret Sales, BestSecret, or similar platforms.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate data and insights into actionable growth strategies.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent analytical, forecasting, and financial planning capabilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience operating across multiple European markets and territories.
  • Experience working with international brands within fashion, luxury, lifestyle, or consumer goods sectors.
  • Experience leading digital transformation, platform migrations, or marketplace expansion programmes.
  • Familiarity with personalisation, testing, and optimisation platforms such as Optimizely, Dynamic Yield, or similar solutions.
