About the Role
YUSO is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to leverage mathematical intellect and analytical mindset to accelerate the energy transition. You will integrate renewable energy and large-scale battery systems into power markets using mathematical modeling, including Machine Learning and AI. This role involves researching, developing, and operating the algorithmic trading stack for asset-backed trading activities, focusing on battery energy storage systems and other flexibility sources.
Responsibilities
- Research and develop asset-backed trading strategies, optimizing dynamical systems under complex physical constraints.
- Optimize batteries across multiple markets and revenue streams, including ancillary services, wholesale markets, and the imbalance mechanism.
- Gain a deep understanding of the in-house algorithmic trading framework (Python on AWS) for developing, implementing, and maintaining trading strategies and energy management systems.
- Build and run backtesting and parameter-optimization pipelines to tune strategies.
- Support business development with revenue simulations and financial modeling for large-scale battery and hybrid projects.
- Benchmark and improve asset performance post-operation, collaborating with the Trading & Portfolio Management team.
- Apply and adapt existing proprietary algorithms to new markets and environments.
- Leverage knowledge of mathematics, statistical methods, Machine Learning, and/or AI to improve forecasting models.
- Monitor, manage, and improve existing models by fine-tuning them to new markets or changing market conditions.
- Analyze time series data across energy markets using statistical and applied mathematical methods.
- Write internal reports and give presentations summarizing methods, results, and performance.
- Maintain a self-critical yet convincing attitude towards colleagues and clients.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, or an equivalent scientific/statistical/econometric discipline.
- Comfortable with mathematical modeling and computational techniques, including conventional optimization and Machine Learning models.
- Knowledge of or interest in trading or optimization in power or financial markets.
- Experience in statistical or mathematical modeling and data analysis.
- Python experience is a must.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade.
- Team player with a self-driven, research-oriented mindset.
- Working proficiency in English is required.
