About the Role
We are seeking an experienced construction professional with a Building Surveying, Building Control, Clerk of Works or similar technical background to join our growing Building Regulations Principal Designer team in London. This client-facing role offers genuine responsibility, technical variety, and the opportunity to influence how Building Safety Act compliance is delivered across nationally significant projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead Building Regulations Principal Designer commissions from appointment through to project completion.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to demonstrate compliance with the Building Regulations throughout the design process.
- Manage Building Regulations compliance strategies in accordance with the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Coordinate technical reviews undertaken by Ingleton Wood's Architecture, Building Surveying, Structural Engineering and Building Services teams.
- Produce, review and maintain Building Regulations Compliance Records and project compliance documentation.
- Assist Clients with competence declarations and Building Safety Act compliance requirements.
- Prepare and coordinate Building Regulations Conformance Statements and associated Gateway documentation where required.
- Liaise with Clients, Principal Contractors, Building Control Approvers and wider project stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Establish appropriate inspection, monitoring and information management strategies during the construction phase.
- Undertake periodic site inspections in accordance with individual project appointments.
- Monitor design changes and coordinate assessment of their impact on Building Regulations compliance.
- Manage project information within agreed Common Data Environments and client information management systems.
- Coordinate internal resources, manage project programmes and budgets, and report directly to the Director of Health & Safety.
- Support the continued growth and development of our Building Safety services through knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
Requirements
- A sound technical understanding of the Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Experience reviewing technical design information across multiple disciplines.
- Strong understanding of construction detailing and Building Regulations compliance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining high technical standards.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to manage programmes and project budgets.
- This role may be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service, Baseline Personnel Security Standard, Counter Terrorist Check, Security Check, or Developed Vetting clearance.
