About the Role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a Lead Web Engineer Consultant to contribute to the ShareTheMeal app's growth strategy. This role involves developing new features, increasing user engagement, and growing the user base to help achieve WFP's zero hunger mission.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Web team at ShareTheMeal.
  • Conduct 1:1s, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Develop features and improvements to the ShareTheMeal web app securely, with thorough testing, and high performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain high quality standards in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
  • Solve complex technical problems.
  • Contribute to the web app's objectives and long-term goals.
  • Exert technical influence to improve product and system reliability.
  • Support the definition and improvement of standards for style, maintainability, and best practices in a high-scale environment, advocating through code review.
  • Confidently ship large features and improvements with minimal guidance.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in developing and designing JavaScript-based web applications.
  • Expert knowledge of TypeScript and React.js development.
  • In-depth knowledge of Unit and End-to-end testing.
  • Good understanding of JS testing frameworks like Jest, Enzyme, Cypress, etc.
  • Embrace principles of clean code, test-driven development, and agile development processes.
  • User-centered approach to software development.
  • Strong analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Ability to interact with managers with maturity and tact.
  • Mature judgment with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures, acting with credibility and diplomacy.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to plan ahead, anticipate requirements, problems, and obstacles, juggle competing priorities, and work to tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the World Food Programme.
