About the Role
BDO's Risk Advisory Services team is expanding its national Work Health & Safety (WHS) offering. As an Assistant Manager, you will help organizations manage WHS risk, strengthen governance, improve safety culture, and respond to regulatory changes. You will deliver WHS audits, risk assessments, and advisory engagements for clients across various industries, while also supporting practice growth through business development and client relationship management.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver work engagements.
- Deliver WHS audits, reviews, and assurance engagements for private and public sector clients.
- Conduct physical and psychosocial risk assessments.
- Assess client compliance with WHS legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice, and frameworks.
- Provide advisory support for the development and implementation of WHS management systems and governance frameworks.
- Prepare detailed reports, recommendations, and improvement roadmaps.
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagements with client leadership teams.
- Assist with proposal development, tenders, RFPs, and business development activities.
- Support the growth and development of BDO's national WHS capability.
- Leverage emerging technologies and integrate modern solutions.
- Supervise team members, review work outputs, and assist with training.
- Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional advisory services.
Requirements
- Certificate IV in WHS as a minimum; Diploma and above is advantageous.
- Understanding of WHS legislation, risk management, and governance principles.
- Exposure to Heavy Vehicle National Law, Dangerous Goods, and Child Safety.
- General technical expertise across high-risk work, critical risk management, training, incident management, and emergency response.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and proposal preparation.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize and deliver multiple projects.
