About the Role

This is a strategically important, senior appointment positioned at the intersection of tax, technology, and transformation, with clear ownership of designing and embedding tax risk frameworks, controls, and supporting technology across a complex enterprise environment. It requires a commercially astute tax professional with a proven track record of delivering large-scale initiatives end-to-end. The role operates across highly detailed, technically demanding tax and accounting processes, and will suit someone comfortable working at depth within complex data, systems, and regulatory frameworks. The opportunity offers significant scope to influence how tax is governed and delivered, with accountability for leading key transformation initiatives across both controls and technology. This is best suited to someone who thrives outside of rigid structure. Resilient, solutions-focused, and comfortable operating in environments where not everything is fully defined. It offers the chance to step into a visible leadership role, take ownership of critical initiatives, and make a meaningful impact on the evolution of the organisation’s tax function.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of tax risk frameworks and controls across the organisation, ensuring alignment with regulatory and governance requirements
  • Take ownership of end-to-end delivery of tax technology implementations, from scoping and design through to execution and embedding into the business
  • Drive tax transformation initiatives, improving processes, systems, and data integrity within the tax function
  • Partner with stakeholders across finance, IT, and tax to translate technical requirements into practical, scalable solutions
  • Oversee and contribute to complex, accounting-heavy tax processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data handling and reporting
  • Play a key role in GST-related project work, supporting implementation and optimisation of indirect tax processes and systems
  • Identify gaps, risks, and inefficiencies within existing tax operations and proactively implement improvements
  • Operate as a senior problem solver, navigating ambiguity and delivering outcomes in dynamic or unstructured environments
  • Provide hands-on support and execution where required, ensuring projects maintain momentum and deadlines are achieved
  • Build and maintain robust documentation, governance standards, and control frameworks to support ongoing compliance and scalability

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and implementing tax risk frameworks and controls within a complex corporate environment
  • A strong track record of delivering tax technology implementations end-to-end, with the ability to drive outcomes independently
  • Deep understanding of tax and accounting processes, with confidence operating in highly detailed, technically complex environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and influence stakeholders across tax, finance, and technology functions
  • Experience working in-house or in similarly hands-on roles, with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset
  • Strong problem-solving capability, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and bring structure to unstructured environments
  • A proactive, ownership-driven approach. Comfortable taking initiative and seeing work through to completion without close supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Exposure to GST or indirect tax is advantageous, particularly within transformation or systems-driven projects
  • A resilient and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and operate at both strategic and operational levels
  • Provide two references
  • Full working rights
  • Complete police and credit checks through an online provider
