About the Role

We are seeking a Business Development Specialist to partner closely with our Capital Markets and Public Company Advisory & Governance groups, playing a key role in cultivating a loyal client base and driving new work to the firm. In this dynamic role, you'll shape and execute business development strategy—from identifying cross-selling opportunities and conducting competitive research, to crafting standout pitches, RFPs, and marketing campaigns across social media, events, CLE seminars, and industry affiliations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development and marketing plans with budget recommendations, collaborating with the Senior BD Manager and other practice groups to align with firmwide strategy and drive cross-selling opportunities
  • Partner with practice and industry group leaders on tailored BD strategies, leveraging deep understanding of group norms and business practices to encourage engagement and collaborative planning
  • Monitor legal and industry developments for assigned groups to proactively identify new and expanded client opportunities
  • Draft and maintain practice group marketing materials—including bios, descriptions, and website content—along with customized pitch and RFP content
  • Conduct competitive intelligence, market research, and conflicts checks to support targeting of prospects and industry sub-sectors
  • Plan and execute marketing events, seminars, sponsorships, and directory/ranking submissions (e.g., Chambers & Partners) to raise firm visibility
  • Identify speaking, sponsorship, and networking opportunities, and support partners in preparing pitches while tracking and analyzing results to improve effectiveness
  • Foster strong collaboration across Marketing Department managers, staff, and attorneys firmwide to ensure consistent client service and seamless program execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required with at least four years of professional services marketing experience
  • Law firm background preferred
  • Familiarity in transactions practices
  • Solid grounding in core marketing principles, including competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch/RFP development
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a strong sense of accountability, responsibility, and responsiveness
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor content for business, legal, and niche audiences
  • Sharp attention to detail across writing, research, and data management
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a matrixed organization
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with a track record of juggling priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with a client-first mindset and a talent for identifying and pursuing strategic BD opportunities
