About the Role
PlayStation is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and operate large-scale online services. This role involves working with numerous server applications and platform components that have been in operation for over 15 years, focusing on achieving a sustainable service lifecycle. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to both the responsibility of supporting a historic, large-scale service and the excitement of evolving it into a better system.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate large-scale online services for PlayStation.
- Work with server applications and platform components that have been in operation for over 15 years.
- Achieve a sustainable service lifecycle for PlayStation online services.
- Migrate services to a common, standardized platform infrastructure.
- Improve services with a focus on long-term stable operation, balancing cost, operational efficiency, and maintainability.
- Create an environment where services can be released and operated safely, securely, easily, and without hassle.
- Promote operational efficiency through automation.
- Actively engage in AI-driven operational support and improvements.
- Continuously challenge new applications of AI in the context of actual service operations.
Requirements
- Requirements definition and system architecture design.
- Experience with two or more of the following skill/experience areas:
- Development using storage/cache technologies such as MySQL, DynamoDB, Memcached, Redis.
- Development using web technologies such as REST API, WebSocket.
- Development and operation in environments utilizing virtualization technologies like Docker.
- Development of distributed systems, high concurrency systems, and high availability systems.
- Experience with parameter tuning for web applications, storage, and caches.
- Experience using public clouds.
- Server construction experience using tools like Terraform or Chef.
- Experience utilizing SaaS monitoring tools and APM tools.
- Experience with Ops task automation.
- Experience with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and improvement of failures.
