Responsibilities

  • Travel nationwide for 13-week assignments.
  • Provide flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings.
  • Organize and conduct occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation.
  • Direct patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
  • Facilitate the learning of skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel.
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of rehab services.
  • Adhere to established plans of care, department and patient schedules, and timely documentation.
  • Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
  • Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
  • Consult with rehabilitation team members to select appropriate therapeutic regimens.
  • Adapt programs and/or plans of care according to individual patient needs.
  • Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
  • Order supplies and equipment as necessary.
  • Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment.
  • Prioritize patient service by ensuring the highest quality of care in a compassionate atmosphere.
  • Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of tests.
  • Synthesize information and interpret examination findings to establish diagnosis and plan of care.
  • Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers.
  • Implement the occupational therapy treatment plan and complete all related documentation.
  • Apply therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalities.
  • Design, fabricate, fit, and/or apply adaptive devices, and train patients in their use.
  • Select appropriate activities suited to individual capacity, intelligence, and interest.
  • Instruct patients in skills and techniques for functional activities.
  • Evaluate patient progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential.
  • Perform routine reexamination as needed/required to modify/progress plan of treatment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must be available to travel to and temporarily reside in locations outside of the therapist's primary home.
