About the Role
Supermicro is seeking a Project Manager to lead rack-level system deployment projects. This role involves managing the full project lifecycle, from planning and SOW definition to customer communication and field engineering support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data center operations and technical project management.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of rack-level system deployment projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
- Define project scopes, draft Statements of Work (SOW), and calculate necessary resources and timelines based on specific customer requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring clear communication, professional expectation management, and structural alignment during the deployment process.
- Perform on-site hardware troubleshooting, maintenance, and service desk ticket handling to minimize downtime.
- Independently manage service workflows and respond to technical challenges in dynamic data center environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data center operations, IT service delivery, or technical project management.
- Proven experience leading and managing rack-level system deployment projects.
- Demonstrated success in drafting Statements of Work (SOWs), calculating project timelines, and coordinating resource requirements for complex, large-scale customer projects.
- Hands-on experience with high-speed cabling and structured cabling systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of server hardware, GPU systems, and data center networking.
- Proficiency in hardware diagnostics (BIOS, UEFI Shell, PXE, DOS) and troubleshooting within Linux/Windows server environments.
- Expert-level capability in performing comprehensive on-site deployment tasks, including rack movement observation and management, hardware remediation support, unpacking systems and rack stacking, and power connection and configuration validation.
- Ability to travel frequently to different cities within the country of residence or to international locations within a 6-hour flight radius for deployment projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries and formal expectations.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
