About the Role

As a science teacher in New York City’s top-performing network of K-12 charter schools, you will join a team of professionals committed to teaching and preparing children from low-income neighborhoods to be self-assured thinkers and leaders. A background in education is not required, as extensive training and a proven curriculum are provided. You will play a part in giving every student a fair shot at reaching their potential.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a classroom of 20+ students.
  • Sharpen communication skills and develop strong relationships with students, families, peers, and mentors.
  • Write letters of recommendation at the middle school and high school level.
  • Become a highly skilled problem solver.
  • Assess and analyze data to chart student growth and tailor teaching methods.
  • Engage in professional development with school leaders for targeted feedback and coaching.
  • Grow as a leader, potentially leading a grade team, entering the school leadership track as an assistant principal, or transitioning to the network office.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree before your first day of work.
  • A rigorous and relevant academic major (i.e., biology, chemistry, physics, engineering).
  • Ability to work in person in New York City.
