Responsibilities
- Assist with every step of the blood collection process, utilizing healthcare and/or customer service skills.
- Collaborate with the team to transport and set up equipment at local community collection sites.
- Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors.
- Follow all safety procedures during blood collection.
- Connect personally with donors, listen to their stories, and explain the impact of their donation.
- Ensure collected blood meets goals and regulatory requirements for safe transfusion.
- May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
- Work as a team to set up and tear down equipment for mobile blood drives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
- A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
- Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods, and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
- Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
