About the Role

Cohere is seeking a Marketing Chief of Staff to support the VP of Brand and collaborate across the marketing function. This role focuses on operational execution, ensuring plans translate into shipped work and allowing leadership to focus on strategic initiatives rather than firefighting.

Responsibilities

  • Run the marketing org's planning cadence, including annual and quarterly planning, goal-setting, and business reviews.
  • Drive budget and headcount planning, managing trade-off conversations.
  • Ensure marketing reviews are productive by driving prep, follow-through, and decision-making.
  • Translate the VP of Brand's priorities into actionable plans and maintain focus on these priorities.
  • Prevent major programs from colliding or stalling across different marketing teams.
  • Serve as the point person for clarifying ownership of decisions.
  • Represent marketing in cross-functional planning with sales, product, and finance.
  • Ensure marketing commitments to other teams are realistic and kept.
  • Chase procurement and legal for stalled purchases and projects.
  • Build leadership materials such as board updates, all-hands content, and executive readouts.
  • Take ownership of special projects that span multiple teams, from initiation to completion.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of operating experience, including time in a Chief of Staff, business operations, or senior program-operations role within a marketing organization.
  • A practical understanding of demand generation and account-based marketing in a B2B setting.
  • Proficiency with marketing and pipeline metrics, and experience managing budgets.
  • A proven ability to bring order to fast-paced, complex organizations without hindering progress.
  • Clear writing, direct communication style, and the ability to guide senior stakeholders towards a plan.
  • Experience in Chief of Staff or business operations roles at high-growth B2B software or AI companies.
  • Experience as a marketing ops or RevOps leader seeking an organization-level operating role.
  • Backgrounds in strategy or management consulting followed by an in-house operating role.
  • Experience as a demand-gen or integrated-marketing operator who has transitioned to an organization-level operating seat.
