About the Role
The Commissions Analyst will calculate, track, and report sales commissions using Excel-based models and Salesforce CRM data. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who can build effective working relationships across all departments and levels.
Responsibilities
- Pull and validate sales, bookings, and opportunity data directly from Salesforce CRM for use in commission calculations
- Build and maintain complex Excel commission models to calculate monthly/quarterly payouts, including tiers, accelerators, and draws
- Reconcile Salesforce CRM opportunity/closed-won data against signed contracts and finance bookings to confirm commissionable revenue
- Maintain a master commission tracker in Excel, keeping rep quotas, territories, and deal splits current and accurate
- Investigate and resolve commission disputes and data discrepancies quickly and accurately, escalating and communicating status proactively
- Prepare and deliver individual commission statements and leadership reports on a strict, recurring schedule
- Partner closely with Sales, Sales Ops, Finance, Payroll and HR to maintain clean data and resolve issues collaboratively
- Support commission plan modeling and "what-if" scenario analysis in Excel for new or revised comp plans
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and calculation trails for SOX/compliance purposes
- Manage multiple concurrent deadlines during month-end/quarter-end close without sacrificing accuracy
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual Excel processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
- Over 8 years of experience in sales compensation, finance, or analytical role
- Demonstrated track record of high accuracy and attention to detail, particularly under deadline pressure
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver consistently on time
- Proven ability to work effectively and build trust across departments and all levels of an organization
- Advanced Excel skills: pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS/COUNTIFS, IF/nested IF, data validation
- Hands-on experience running reports and dashboards in Salesforce CRM
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain calculations clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Discretion and professionalism handling confidential compensation data
- SQL basics for pulling data from a data warehouse
- Prior experience in HCM/SaaS/B2B sales organizations
- Exposure to commission plan design or sales compensation modeling
- Salesforce Administrator certification or hands-on config experience a plus
