About the Role

The Residential Re-entry Center (RRC) is a transitional housing program that provides assistance to federal inmates nearing release. The RRC offers a safe, structured, supervised environment, along with employment counseling, job placement, financial management assistance, and other services to help residents rebuild community ties and facilitate their re-entry. The Assistant Director oversees all aspects of the RRC program to ensure compliance with Volunteers of America, American Corrections Association (ACA), and Bureau of Prisons (BOP) standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing RRC operations, including the home confinement component, in accordance with agency, ACA, BOP, PREA, and other applicable standards.
  • Partner with the Director to ensure procedures adhere to agency, ACA, BOP, and PREA standards and assist in staff training.
  • Assist the Director in supervising the PSO Manager and public safety officers.
  • Oversee Electronic Monitoring of RRC participants on Ankle Monitoring, including those on home confinement and weekend passes.
  • Work with the PSO Manager and PSO staff to oversee the collection of random urine screens and complete a Monthly Urine Sampling Report.
  • Oversee the monthly search of the Re Entry Center and participants' authorized vehicles.
  • Collaborate with VOA maintenance, food service, and administrative departments to ensure resource availability and compliance with agency, ACA, and BOP standards.
  • Utilize strengths-based programming and tools (e.g., LSI-Rs).
  • Assist the Director in ensuring timely Center Disciplinary Hearings in accordance with BOP standards.
  • Help ensure maximum utilization of facility bed space and home confinement resources.
  • Assist the Director in coordinating quarterly Community Re-Entry Advisory Board (CRAB) meetings.
  • Assist with regular reviews of case files.
  • Conduct regular monitoring to ensure adherence to PREA regulations.
  • Ensure adequate training and refresher training for staff.
  • Ensure adequate PSO staff coverage at the RRC.
  • Assist with tracking outcomes and completing reports accurately and timely.
  • Play a lead role in ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff, and the facility.
  • Assist with on-call duties.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social/behavioral science or criminal justice.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of work experience in a related field (e.g., Correctional Management).
  • Minimum of two years of supervision experience required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of two years of supervision experience is acceptable.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Clean NYS Driver’s License.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
