About the Role
We are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the month-end close process, enhance the accuracy and rigor of our GL accounting, and manage a team of three accountants. This role involves reviewing work, building complex reconciliations, and supporting business scaling.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive the month-end close process end-to-end, ensuring deadlines are met and the close calendar stays on track
- Review journal entries prepared by the accounting team for accuracy, completeness, and proper support
- Review account reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are identified, explained, and resolved timely
- Partner with team members to design and build out more complex reconciliations, including process documentation and templates
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 3 accountants; provide regular feedback and support career growth
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase close efficiency and reduce risk
- Serve as a point of escalation for accounting questions and judgment calls from the team
- Partner with the Assistant Controller on technical accounting matters, audit prep, and ad hoc projects
- Ensure GL activity is properly supported and compliant with US GAAP
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior experience reviewing the work of others
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and month-end close processes
- Experience managing or mentoring a team preferred
- Proficiency with GL systems (e.g., NetSuite) and Excel required
- CPA a plus, not required
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment
