About the Role

Atoms is building Physical AI—real-world robots for industries like food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, scalable, and productive. This role requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate.

Responsibilities

  • Work with design engineers and technicians on prototype builds to identify and incorporate design improvements.
  • Plan and execute pilot builds, feeding learnings back into the design process.
  • Develop the ECO process, including provisions for field retrofits.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to roll out hardware updates.
  • Produce assembly and installation documentation for internal and external audiences.
  • Design customer-facing kits using engineering BOMs, including packaging and consumables.
  • Update test procedures and fixtures in response to BOM and design changes, ensuring test coverage is maintained.
  • Define production readiness criteria and manage the handoff to steady-state manufacturing.
  • Design scalable workstations, procedures, and instructions in close collaboration with the manufacturing team.
  • Specify the design of and partner with mechanical engineers on assembly and test fixtures.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience, including hands-on implementation of ECO systems.
  • Experience with Robotics, Autonomous vehicles, Automotive, or similarly complex systems.
  • Experience establishing NPI processes from scratch.
  • Experience scaling a hardware product from prototype to production.
  • Experience managing engineering changes on products already deployed to customers.
  • Experience with PLMs such as Arena, Windchill, Agile, 3Dx, including workflow configuration and ECO implementation.
  • Experience with DFA/DFM for various manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.
  • Experience building and/or working with schematics and harness documentation (e.g., Zuken, Altium, Capital) is strongly preferred.

Salary/Compensations

  • $182,000 - $230,000 per year
