About the Role
This role is crucial for the execution of portfolio optimization for single-family rental (SFR) investment vehicles within a high-growth real estate startup. The team acts as an internal fiduciary for investors, providing analysis and strategy for optimal portfolio performance, and communicating daily with institutional investors.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and improve complex investment and fund-level models for leadership reporting and investor presentations.
- Participate in investor portfolio reviews to understand investment strategy profiles.
- Analyze financial performance, portfolio composition, revenue & expense policy, financing/capital structure, and exit opportunities.
- Prepare financial performance packages, including operational variance analysis.
- Partner with Asset Management and FP&A to facilitate investment decision-making and operational processes.
- Coordinate with the Acquisition team to forecast fund sources and uses and drive portfolio composition.
- Utilize statistical and mathematical tools for asset allocation.
- Provide support on transaction execution.
- Understand the economic impact of revenue, expense, and cost of capital within SFR.
- Identify and highlight fund and asset-specific issues and opportunities.
- Assist in developing scalable infrastructure for decision-making using technology and business intelligence tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 2 - 5 years (3+ for Associate) in investment banking, private equity, or similar.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with an understanding of portfolio construction.
- Highly proficient with databases and Excel-based modeling.
- Able to quickly model, chart, and present performance reviews in PowerPoint.
- Able to read and understand financial statements.
- Able to interpret and understand term sheets and legal disclosure documents.
- Highly organized and accurate with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong verbal, quantitative, and written communication skills.
- Confident in interacting professionally with institutional investors.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret data and present thoughtful analysis and insight.
- Demonstrated ability to develop expertise across a broad spectrum of issues.
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into execution.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizations and manage stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple projects and under tight time constraints.
