About the Role
Design and implement an afterschool program for pre-k students, focusing on social and emotional learning through choice-based activities. The program operates Monday through Friday from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, supporting 12-14 children daily.
Responsibilities
- Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve conflicts positively
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through project-based learning
- Ensure children are safe at all times
- Organize snack, rest, and play times, including coordinating gym use for physical activities
- Track children’s progress and report to the program director
- Collaborate with other educators
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Teacher of preschool age children
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Certification in child CPR
