About the Role

Astro Mechanica is seeking a GNC engineer to take ownership of guidance and control systems for a clean-sheet autonomous aircraft. This role involves working from first principles, collaborating with other engineering disciplines, and making practical trade-offs to ensure hardware flies successfully. The ideal candidate is motivated by building robust, testable, and flight-ready control architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement guidance, navigation, and control systems for products
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary aircraft trades and help define the overall system architecture
  • Develop 6-DOF dynamics simulation models for analysis and validation
  • Develop tooling to automate control design, Monte Carlo simulations, and simulation validation
  • Collaborate with peers across engineering disciplines to define control schemes and mechanisms
  • Support flight and ground test operations
  • Conduct post flight/test reviews and correlate performance with analysis for continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in robotics, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of professional experience in GNC development for an aerospace or autonomous vehicle program
  • Experience with dynamics, modeling, and simulation
  • Experience with software development best practices
  • Ambition to work in a fast-paced environment
