About the Role
Astro Mechanica is seeking a GNC engineer to take ownership of guidance and control systems for a clean-sheet autonomous aircraft. This role involves working from first principles, collaborating with other engineering disciplines, and making practical trade-offs to ensure hardware flies successfully. The ideal candidate is motivated by building robust, testable, and flight-ready control architectures.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement guidance, navigation, and control systems for products
- Engage in multi-disciplinary aircraft trades and help define the overall system architecture
- Develop 6-DOF dynamics simulation models for analysis and validation
- Develop tooling to automate control design, Monte Carlo simulations, and simulation validation
- Collaborate with peers across engineering disciplines to define control schemes and mechanisms
- Support flight and ground test operations
- Conduct post flight/test reviews and correlate performance with analysis for continuous improvement
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in robotics, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline
- 2+ years of professional experience in GNC development for an aerospace or autonomous vehicle program
- Experience with dynamics, modeling, and simulation
- Experience with software development best practices
- Ambition to work in a fast-paced environment
