About the Role
Dream Office REIT is seeking a Building Operator for their Toronto Downtown location. The ideal candidate is hardworking, customer-service oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn. Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems and facilities.
- Complete tenant service calls professionally, such as changing lights and addressing heating/cooling issues.
- Oversee and maintain the appearance and safety of the property.
- Operate Building Automation and Security computer systems.
- Troubleshoot technical and operational issues, providing solutions and recommendations.
- Oversee contractors to ensure adherence to building guidelines.
- Oversee service providers to ensure completion of duties as per service contracts.
- Communicate with Operations Manager/Senior Operator/Property Management regarding building and tenant issues.
- Communicate with tenants, providing timely updates.
- Complete daily equipment inspections using the TAP reporting system.
- Contact suppliers, obtain quotes, and order materials/supplies.
- Be available for on-call or weekend shifts as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work in confined spaces.
- Perform bending, twisting, crouching, climbing, and reaching.
- Move and lift heavy equipment and supplies.
- Combine walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors.
- Travel to other portfolio properties for support if needed.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in building operations and maintenance.
- Experienced and comfortable working with tools.
- Experience gained in a commercial/office/retail environment.
- Familiarity with safety and fire codes and WHMIS procedures.
- Proactive in identifying and solving problems.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong computer and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license is an asset.
