About the Role

SOCAN is seeking a Data Analyst & Reporting Lead to advance enterprise analytics capabilities and enable data-driven decision-making. This role combines hands-on analysis and reporting with leadership, governance, and cross-functional influence, serving as a primary lead for analytics and reporting within assigned domains.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of analytics and reporting initiatives, from requirements definition through to insight generation and executive-level communication
  • Serve as the primary analytics partner to business stakeholders, translating strategic priorities into actionable data solutions and influencing decision-making
  • Lead, mentor, and provide quality oversight to Data Analysts, while remaining hands-on in delivering complex analytical and reporting outputs
  • Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent workstreams, balancing project delivery with ad hoc analysis in a fast-paced environment
  • Design and implement scalable reporting and analytics solutions by collaborating with Data Engineering, BI, and business teams to define requirements and align on data models
  • Perform advanced analysis on large, complex datasets using modern cloud data platforms, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Lead root-cause analysis of KPI and operational performance issues, delivering clear and actionable recommendations
  • Define, standardize, and govern enterprise KPIs, ensuring alignment and consistency across reports, dashboards, and datasets
  • Establish and enforce data quality frameworks, validation rules, and monitoring processes to ensure trusted and reliable data assets
  • Partner with Data Engineering to enhance data pipelines, resolve discrepancies, and improve overall data integrity
  • Own the design and governance of semantic layers and business-facing data models to enable scalable reporting and self-serve analytics
  • Lead the development of executive-ready dashboards and reporting assets, ensuring outputs are intuitive, scalable, and aligned to business needs
  • Drive adoption of self-serve analytics by enabling stakeholders with accessible, well-documented data products
  • Translate complex technical analysis into clear, concise, and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Facilitate alignment across business, analytics, and engineering teams to ensure integrated and effective data solutions
  • Establish and promote best practices for analytics development, documentation, reproducibility, and auditability
  • Provide ongoing technical support and guidance for reporting solutions to ensure stability, usability, and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics or a related field, with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end analytics or reporting initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong Python skills, including experience working with large-scale datasets in distributed compute environments (e.g., Spark)
  • Hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks or equivalent), including data exploration, transformation, and performance optimization
  • Proven ability to design and deliver scalable reporting solutions, including dashboards and data models aligned to business needs
  • Strong experience working with complex, ambiguous business problems, with the ability to translate requirements into structured analytical approaches and measurable outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience defining and governing KPIs, as well as implementing data quality, validation, and monitoring frameworks
  • Experience leading analytics initiatives or mentoring analysts, with the ability to provide technical guidance, enforce standards, and ensure quality of outputs
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience partnering across data engineering, business intelligence, and business teams to deliver integrated data solutions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present insights and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Strong business writing and documentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to synthesize large datasets, identify trends and anomalies, and drive actionable insights while maintaining a big-picture perspective
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering accurate, reliable, and scalable data products
  • Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Business Analytics) or equivalent practical experience
