About the Role
Blumen is building the regulatory intelligence layer for energy and critical infrastructure development. This role focuses on transforming complex laws, regulations, and agency guidance into structured, scalable data to power software solutions.
Responsibilities
- Research and interpret federal, state, and local regulations across jurisdictions.
- Structure and tag regulatory information to power automation and compliance workflows.
- Review and quality-check regulatory datasets for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and define solutions for regulatory ambiguities, edge cases, and contradictions.
- Communicate product gaps, workflow problems, and data quality issues to engineering and product teams.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to translate complex regulations into structured logic.
- Develop internal methodologies, documentation, and quality standards for regulatory data work.
Requirements
- Several years of experience in permitting, environmental compliance, land use, or regulatory analysis.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies.
- Critical thinking skills beyond checklist adherence.
- Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar regulatory frameworks.
- Clear, concise, and precise written communication skills.
- Skill in separating observation from conclusion and surfacing problems before proposing solutions.
- Enjoyment in transforming complex information into simple, scalable systems.
- Comfort balancing repetitive quality control with independent critical thinking.
- Desire to build a software product rather than produce one-off consulting deliverables.
