About the Role
AXON is seeking a Senior Medical Writer to develop high-quality scientific content, provide strategic medical counsel, and help deliver exceptional healthcare communications programs. You will play a key role in transforming complex scientific evidence into engaging communications that support healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of high-quality scientific and medical communications across a variety of healthcare accounts.
- Translate complex clinical data into clear, accurate, and engaging content tailored to diverse audiences.
- Serve as a trusted scientific partner to clients by providing expert editorial guidance and participating in client review meetings.
- Mentor and develop junior medical writers while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team.
- Partner with multidisciplinary colleagues across AXON and the AVENIR GLOBAL network to deliver integrated healthcare communications solutions.
- Lead the development of scientifically accurate, strategically aligned medical content across a broad range of healthcare communications materials.
- Serve as the day-to-day scientific and editorial contact for assigned clients, confidently presenting recommendations and participating in client review meetings.
- Interpret and communicate complex clinical and scientific data for healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholder audiences.
- Monitor therapeutic area developments, clinical research, and regulatory milestones, proactively sharing insights with clients and internal teams.
- Collaborate closely with account teams, strategists, creatives, and project managers to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Build strong relationships with clients, healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, and external partners.
- Contribute scientific expertise to proposals, project planning, and new business opportunities.
- Ensure all deliverables meet AXON's quality standards and comply with pharmaceutical industry regulations and best practices.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Mentor junior writers through coaching, constructive feedback, and scientific knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline (PhD, PharmD, MSc, MD or equivalent preferred).
- 5–8+ years of experience in medical communications, healthcare communications, medical education, pharmaceutical industry, or a healthcare agency environment.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting clinical research and translating complex scientific information into clear, engaging communications.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with meticulous attention to scientific accuracy and detail.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations, medical review processes, and compliance standards.
- Experience managing multiple projects across different therapeutic areas and client accounts.
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior colleagues.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and prioritization skills.
- A collaborative mindset and passion for advancing healthcare communications.
- Capability to work 3 days a week in-office.
- Ability to travel as required.
