About the Role

We are seeking a Transaction Monitoring Analyst with 1-2 years of experience to investigate alerts, identify suspicious activity, and manage complex financial crime investigations. This role involves using data to identify trends, improve processes, and shape the evolution of Transaction Monitoring as VFX scales.

Responsibilities

  • Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts related to AML, fraud, sanctions, and financial crime risks.
  • Analyze customer activity, transactional behavior, and source of funds.
  • Identify unusual patterns, emerging risks, and suspicious activity.
  • Make risk-based decisions and escalate high-risk cases.
  • Prepare clear investigation summaries, case narratives, and documentation.
  • Maintain high-quality case handling standards and manage workloads.
  • Complete investigations within established SLAs and regulatory requirements.
  • Draft and submit Internal Suspicious Activity Reports (ISARs).
  • Support external SAR submissions with Financial Crime and MLRO teams.
  • Analyze transactional data to identify financial crime trends, typologies, control gaps, and emerging risks.
  • Manipulate and interpret large data sets using Excel and internal tools.
  • Support the production of management information (MI), trend analysis, and risk reporting.
  • Assist in enhancing transaction monitoring coverage, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Use data-driven insights to challenge existing processes and support continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Compliance, Operations, Risk, Onboarding, and Commercial teams.
  • Share insights on financial crime trends, typologies, and emerging risks.
  • Proactively identify process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Contribute fresh ideas to strengthen financial crime controls and customer outcomes.
  • Lead or support initiatives to improve alert quality, investigation standards, team productivity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support testing, tuning, and optimization of transaction monitoring controls.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in Transaction Monitoring, AML, Financial Crime, Compliance Operations, or a related risk function.
  • Ability to confidently investigate alerts, identify suspicious activity, and take ownership of complex financial crime investigations.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and knowing when to escalate.
  • Experience investigating transaction monitoring alerts and documenting clear risk-based decisions.
  • Experience preparing Internal SARs or escalating suspicious activity through appropriate governance channels.
