About the Role

This role oversees the development, direction, and management of operational risk management frameworks for State Street SSBTC London Branch and its affiliate legal entities in the UK. The candidate will serve as a risk advisor for UK Legal Entities, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer for UK (SMF4), ensuring risk programs meet all relevant requirements and collaborating with various control functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and enhancement of UK specific risk management frameworks, policies, and standards, focusing on ORM, Third Party risk management, and Climate Risk, ensuring alignment with PRA/FCA regulatory obligations and industry best practices.
  • Provide risk advisory and oversight to assigned UK Legal Entities as a delegate of SMF 4, including oversight of the ICAAP/ICAARA process.
  • Manage oversight of UK Third-Party Risk, including internal intercompany outsourcing, reviewing and challenging risk assessments and exit strategies for service providers supporting UK LEs.
  • Manage ORM oversight of strategic Change Management initiatives impacting relevant UK legal entities, including mergers, acquisitions, lift outs, and new product approvals.
  • Manage oversight of the global climate risk management program, including UK climate risk management policy, priorities, and disclosures.
  • Support Corporate ORM on global ORM framework design and advancement, communicating UK regulatory expectations for consideration in global standards.
  • Manage oversight of operational risk management programs to ensure effective identification, measurement, control, and management of risks for all relevant UK legal entities.
  • Support communication and escalation of trends, insights, emerging risks, key issues, and information to senior management and across the three lines of defense.
  • Provide risk reporting to relevant UK business units, management committees, and legal entity boards.
  • Promote and support a culture of effective challenge and drive a risk-aware culture throughout the organization.
  • Take reasonable decisions by exercising reasonable care when considering available information, including proactive action to ensure information is suitable and adequate.
  • Maintain understanding of UK legal and regulatory developments and their impact on State Street’s business operations and support related to regulatory initiatives.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other control functions and audit.
  • Develop and deliver risk management presentations internally and to clients.
  • Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity, ensuring compliance with industry practice, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote the development of a risk culture within the business and ensure business line accountability for risk management and measurement.
  • Support a culture of effective challenge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 15+ years risk experience and experience in the subject matter relevant to the role.
