About the Role

Thornton Tomasetti applies engineering and scientific principles to solve the world’s challenges. Our Protective Design & Security practice helps owners, developers, and public agencies worldwide achieve security objectives while upholding each project’s aesthetic, functional and budgetary goals. We have an opportunity for a Structural Engineer Intern for our Protective Design & Security Practice. The Structural Engineer Intern will primarily focus on blast analysis and design work and will also likely be exposed to several different aspects of protective design & security such as progressive collapse, site perimeter security, and operational security. This is a full-time Summer 2027 internship.

Responsibilities

With oversight and training from project managers, perform blast load and response calculations for structural and building enclosure systems.
Develop calculation packages as well as written narratives to summarize work completed.
Develop structural and building enclosure details and drawings.

Requirements

All candidates must be able to obtain a security clearance.
Undergraduate or graduate student with a concentration in structural engineering.
Excellent academic record.
