About the Role
ACV is seeking an enthusiastic Inspector with a knack for cars to join a growing company. Inspectors are the face of ACV, knowledgeable about cars and skilled at explaining vehicle conditions to clients. They possess boundless energy, work tirelessly, and are meticulous in their assessments, embodying ACV's values of Trust, Transparency, Credibility, and Customer Service.
Responsibilities
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
- Partner with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors to conduct vehicle inspections at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease locations.
- Detect damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems during inspections.
- Prepare and submit reports on vehicle condition, including repair/replacement cost estimates and related documentation.
- Assist the sales team in up-selling or cross-selling services and products.
- Interface regularly with dealers to ensure client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
- Travel to dealerships and homes to inspect vehicles and write condition reports.
- List vehicles for sale on the auction platform.
- Take and download photos of vehicles, including overall and damage shots, to the image server using a company-issued smartphone.
- List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
- Sign up independent dealerships as buyers for the ACV Auctions digital platform.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in the automobile field (body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge) with a customer service background.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to work outdoors in the elements for extended periods.
- Problem-solving aptitude with resourcefulness and innovative approaches.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand customer needs and expectations.
- Valid driver's license and use of a validly registered and insured motor vehicle.
- Knowledge of system capabilities, job-relevant software packages, and web-based applications.
- Ability to perform manual labor, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to or more than 25 lbs, bending, and squatting.
- Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Vision abilities required to properly identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.
