About the Role

This role involves supporting adults with developmental disabilities, concurrent disorders, and/or dual diagnoses in an assisted-living environment. The goal is to help participants develop daily living skills and promote community integration and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Work with adults with developmental disabilities, concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses in an assisted-living environment providing 24/7 support to develop daily living skills that support community integration/engagement.
  • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships and attend to the diverse needs of participants.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for participants requiring varying levels of behavioural interventions; remain calm and focused in crisis situations while utilizing effective de-escalation and decision-making skills.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement care plans that support involvement in person-centred programs that promote educational, behavioural, developmental, psychological, and emotional growth.
  • Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice.

Requirements

  • Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record.
  • Satisfactory current (within the last 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunisations, negative TB Skin test (within the last 6 months), COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the position.
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C with AED training preferred.

Location

  • London, ON

Work Type

  • Full-Time
  • 32-40 hrs/week
  • Varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Experience Level

  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing behaviour intervention support.

Education Level

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma in Child & Youth Worker (CYC) or Social Service Worker (SSW) - or an equivalent Human Services program.

Salary/Compensations

  • $28.67/ hour plus vacation pay
  • 2.5% in lieu of benefits
