About the Role
Flatiron Health is seeking a Strategic Partnerships Manager to accelerate business in Japan by building external partnerships with cancer hospitals, government authorities, and cooperating agencies. This role is crucial for transforming real-world patient experiences into evidence to improve cancer care globally.
Responsibilities
- Scale oncology data partnership opportunities with cancer hospitals and government agencies in Japan.
- Drive relevant ethical review and contractual processes.
- Propose approaches to maintain and evolve relationships with site partners.
- Ensure alignment and successful execution of partnership projects.
- Conduct ongoing market intelligence to inform Flatiron’s strategy and identify new opportunities in the Japanese oncology ecosystem.
- Continuously gather feedback from partners and internal teams to optimize processes.
- Manage budgets or resources related to partnership activities as needed.
- Travel within Japan for meetings with partners and stakeholders.
Requirements
- 7-10 years of experience developing external and internal relationships in healthcare in Japan or a consulting background in the healthcare industry, ideally in pharmaceutical industries or healthcare/healthtech companies with experience engaging KOLs.
- Knowledge of the Japanese healthcare system, including hospitals, private industry players, government ministries, and relevant laws and regulations.
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated success in completing highly complex, cross-functional projects in pharmaceutical or other relevant industries.
- Bilingual written and spoken proficiency in Japanese and English, and ability to engage in external and internal discussions in formal settings.
- Strong, analytical problem-solving ability to break down ambiguous problems and identify strategic business decisions and their implications.
- Ability to proactively propose solutions for effective market research for strategy development and reinforcement.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to keep learning.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within Japanese and Western business cultures.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a "go-getter" mentality, with flexibility in role and priorities.
- Specific domain expertise in RWD, RWE, cancer hospitals, oncology, observational research, health regulatory authority interaction, outcomes research, clinical research or related data/research products (Extra Credit).
- Legal background, or deep understanding of Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) and the Ethical Guidelines for Medical and Health Research Involving Human Subjects (Extra Credit).
- Experience in business development related to products or solutions for healthcare providers or pharmaceutical companies at a healthcare or health-tech company (Extra Credit).
- Medical, research, or science background (Extra Credit).
- Experience working in a start-up environment with product and engineering teams (Extra Credit).
