About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to ensure the flawless operation of Fanatics Live and Instant Rips during peak activity, focusing on real-time transactions between collectors and sellers. This hands-on role involves diagnosing and fixing issues, improving system reliability through enhanced dashboards, alerts, and automation, and developing durable solutions for root causes. As the first engineer dedicated to live operations, you will have significant ownership and impact in defining this discipline as the platform expands globally. The role requires real-time support during peak platform activity, with working hours from Wednesday to Sunday, 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM PT.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the designated technical responder for real-time issues during live shows or Instant Rip experiences, including triage, diagnosis, and resolution or escalation with full context.
  • Own incident response from declaration to postmortem, driving resolution in the moment.
  • Manage the operational health of live products by building and improving dashboards, alerts, and SLOs, and instrumenting the application layer to proactively identify failure modes.
  • Collaborate with account managers, CX, and business teams to identify gaps in internal tooling and develop self-service tools for common operational tasks.
  • Automate manual operational workflows.
  • Identify systemic root causes of recurring issues and implement durable fixes.
  • Take ownership of persistent issues impacting seller and buyer experience and drive them to resolution.
  • Contribute to the platform reliability roadmap.
  • Establish scalable live support through runbooks, documentation, and escalation paths.
  • Own and deliver complex reliability initiatives involving multiple engineering teams.
  • Lead architecture and technical design discussions for live operational capabilities.
  • Align technical strategies and incident prevention priorities across product, platform, and infrastructure teams.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and establish knowledge-sharing practices.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong full stack proficiency.
  • Hands-on experience with observability tooling (e.g., Datadog), including building dashboards, defining alert thresholds, and interpreting anomalies under pressure.
  • Experience with incident response or live service support in a production environment.
  • Working proficiency with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS), CI/CD pipelines, and scripting for operational automation.
  • Sound engineering judgment for independent diagnosis of application-layer issues and decision-making under time pressure.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills for daily interaction with non-engineers.
  • A bias toward building systems, runbooks, and automation over one-off fixes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
