About the Role
CHLDC is seeking a Part-time Family Development Coach to support youth and adults in achieving educational and economic success, securing affordable housing, and developing leadership skills within the East New York community. The role involves providing direct support and counseling to students, fostering collaboration with school staff, and managing program activities.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, interview, and conduct intake assessments of program participants.
- Establish rapport with participants and assist with the development of educational and career goals.
- Support participants in the formation of future plans.
- Provide interpersonal group and individual counseling to 10-11th grade students.
- Facilitate group counseling/workshops on academics, attendance, socio-emotional learning, career development, life skills, and student enrichment.
- Foster collaborative relationships with BLS administration and counseling team.
- Monitor and support student attendance and academic progress.
- Coordinate program events, including transportation, refreshments, and admissions.
- Manage systems to track academic and personal goals for positive participant outcomes.
- Utilize effective and secure practices in data collection and management.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Demonstrate commitment to school reform, leadership development, community building, and community organizing.
- Represent the program to funders and meet reporting requirements.
- Attend required division and agency meetings.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working in an educational, social service, or family support service setting.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders.
- Self-starting team player with excellent organizational skills.
- Familiarity with the community and support agencies.
- Experience with child development.
- Experience working with families from diverse cultures and economic backgrounds.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, SmartBoard, PowerPoint).
- Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative professional relationships.
