About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer at Xtract One, you will specialize in SaaS and hardware products for physical security applications. You will be a prominent technical leader driving innovation, shaping technical strategy, and delivering high-impact solutions. This role involves setting technical direction, influencing architectural decisions, and mentoring the engineering team, offering a unique opportunity to make substantial contributions to the organization's technical excellence and long-term success.

Responsibilities

Own the delivery of architected systems from start to finish, ensuring quality and scalability in production.
Take ownership of key software projects, including firmware/OS integration and edge processing optimization.
Contribute to the continuous adoption of AI within the software landscape.
Set and enforce high standards for code quality, testing, and software development best practices across hardware and software.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of experience with a demonstrated ability to influence architecture across teams.
Extensive experience with infrastructure-as-code and serverless technologies.
Strong leadership and communication abilities.
Proven success in delivering complex and scalable software solutions with strategic business impact.
Familiarity with SOC 2 Type II and security best practices.
Demonstrated track record of mentoring and developing engineering talent.
Expertise in AWS Cloud, focusing on data ingestion, business intelligence, and security.
Experience with STM32 firmware boards.
Experience with sensor-integrated IoT hardware is highly desirable.
Experience with AI Spec-Driven development.
