About the Role

Responsible for the direct supervision of children and residents in a recreational program, enforcing rules, and providing assistance. This role aims to ensure clients receive entitled services, meet program goals, maintain a positive public image, and enhance Serenity House's Recreational program.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children and residents participating in the recreational program.
  • Enforce applicable rules and provide assistance as needed.
  • Motivate client participation in the recreation program.
  • Monitor recreational activities for compliance with regulations.
  • Submit monthly assessments for program effectiveness.
  • Assist with the implementation of scheduled recreational activities.
  • Organize and implement all holiday activities for residents.
  • Maintain records including attendance forms, permission slips, monthly schedules and reports, trip forms, and lesson forms.
  • De-escalate conflicts among the client population using non-violent intervention.
  • Instruct and demonstrate basic rules and finer points of various sports to groups and individuals.
  • Issue, collect, and account for recreation equipment.
  • Inventory and maintain all recreational equipment and supplies for quarterly submission.
  • Plan all activities within the recreational budget.
  • Complete monthly recreation schedules.
  • Assist with supervising and monitoring participants in the After School Program.
  • Develop and maintain a structured After School Program including a Study Hour, lunch period, and socialization period.
  • Prepare nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to USDA guidelines.
  • Follow recipes, menus, and portion controls.
  • Ensure food is prepared in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Clean, sanitize, and organize food products and utensils in the kitchen.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of college and one year of related experience OR high school diploma and two years of related experience.
  • Knowledgeable of recreational activities in the community.
  • Experience working with children of all ages.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Food Safety Certification required within 6 months of employment.

  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English)
