About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Aquatics staff on duty while building relationships with members and participants.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pool rules, YMCA mission, core values, and act as a positive role model.
  • Help to maintain a positive, friendly and safe environment in Aquatic areas.
  • Work directly with swim instructors to provide lessons for children, youth and adult.
  • Proactively interact with swimmers to assist their practice.
  • Supervise and ensure safety of all participants (sign in/out, emergency procedure).
  • Maintain pool area and deck cleanliness.
  • Greet all participants and guests with a smile.
  • Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, volunteers and members.
  • Maintain regular communication with Manager of Aquatics.
  • Complete all online trainings, program training and WHY School.

Requirements

  • Minimum Age: Aquatic Volunteers must be a minimum 14 years of age.
  • Minimum certifications: Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid with CPR-C/Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C.
  • Original Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening less than 6 months old for volunteers 18 years of age and older.
  • Minimum commitment of 4 months, 3 hours/week.
