About the Role

The Bakery Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary environment to support smooth bakery operations. This role involves assisting team members, ensuring equipment and work areas are ready for daily production, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Ensure customers receive friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service; greet them personally and thank them for shopping at Adams.
• Answer the phone with a friendly greeting and assist with basic customer inquiries.
• Set up baked goods in the morning; stretch, round, and seed breads for bake-off.
• Receive and check deliveries against order tickets for accuracy.
• Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties, including dishwashing, sanitizing equipment and prep areas, and cleaning mixers, ovens, and grease traps.
• Bag and dispose of trash and recycling properly; keep all floors clean, dry, and mopped.
• Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including the sales floor, counters, coolers, prep, and storage areas.
• Assist the bakery team as needed and always prioritize helping customers over any task.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Safely operate and use commercial dishwasher; if applicable.
• Consistently move, adjust, and position items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for duration of shift.
• Occasionally ascend/descend a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers for duration of shift.
• Communicate with others to exchange information.
• Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks including in tight and confined spaces.
• Exposure to cold temperatures periodically during your shift.
