About the Role

The Flexi Kitchen Assistant at N Family Club will assist our Chef with running our state-of-the-art nursery commercial kitchen, serving fresh and nutritious food for nursery children. The role involves supporting the chef to create and deliver a menu that keeps everybody happy and healthy, introducing children to a wide range of culinary styles and meeting special dietary requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with cooking fresh and inspiring food for children, with flexibility to meet nursery needs.
  • Perform pot-washing for the nursery, ensuring all crockery and cooking equipment are cleaned and sterilized.
  • Follow nutritionist-designed recipes and menu to ensure children receive optimal vitamins and nutrients.
  • Support the chef in catering to differing dietary needs of different age groups, following food preparation and choking guidelines.
  • Support the chef in catering to allergies and dietary requirements, adhering to policies to prevent cross-contamination and meet individual nutritional needs.
  • Prepare daily lunch and smoothie for the nursery team, catering to different dietary needs.
  • Support the chef in timely completion of kitchen paperwork and compliance tasks, including a daily Due Diligence Diary and kitchen Cleaning Schedule.
  • Order food supplies from accredited supplier, managing weekly ordering and efficient stock rotation.
  • Adhere to the company's H&S policy: “Statement of Intent".
  • Maintain and upkeep the kitchen to a 5-star Food Hygiene rating standard, adhering to Environment Health industry regulations.
  • Cover and lead the kitchen in the chef's absence.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with the nursery team, children, and parents.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a commercial kitchen environment and/or a nursery kitchen.
  • Good knowledge of food allergens and child nutrition.
  • Ideally, Food Hygiene level 2 qualified (or willingness to complete during onboarding).
  • Passion for food and nutrition.
  • Genuine interest in cooking with long-term culinary career goals.
  • Enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.
  • Conscious practices within food and cooking including recycling and minimizing food waste.
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively during busy service times.
  • Positive outlook.
  • Drive and motivation with a ‘make it happen’ attitude.
  • Love for customer service.
  • High energy and a solutions-driven approach to problems.
