About the Role

As the Deputy Managing Director, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational development of the personnel and volunteer management departments. Together with the management, you will further develop our organization and ensure that employees and volunteers can contribute their strengths, develop further, and work together to achieve valuable work for animals and people.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic and operational development of personnel and volunteer management at Tierheim Berlin
  • Development and implementation of modern personnel strategies in line with the requirements and goals of the animal shelter
  • Sustainable personnel planning and management of staffing as a central instrument for personnel recruitment and filling
  • Responsibility for personnel cost planning and support for transparent personnel controlling
  • Design and support of organizational development processes with the aim of continuously developing structures and cooperation
  • Development and implementation of concepts for personnel development as well as planning and expansion of training and further education offers
  • Strategic further development of volunteer management at the animal shelter
  • Handling of employment law issues and ensuring the application of labor and co-determination law
  • Support of the management in operational day-to-day business as well as taking over coordination and implementation tasks
  • Trusting cooperation with the co-determination bodies and relevant internal and external partners

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in strategic personnel management as well as in leading and developing teams
  • Strong leadership competence, communication skills, and a modern understanding of cooperation and organizational development
  • Experience in designing and supporting change processes as well as in developing sustainable personnel strategies
  • A good feel for people, structures, and the further development of a appreciative corporate culture
  • Ideally, experience in the non-profit sector or in volunteer management and enjoyment of successfully combining full-time and voluntary commitment
  • Knowledge of labor and co-determination law as well as confidence in dealing with employment law issues
