About the Role
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic, and commercially-minded Financial Reporting Senior Analyst to join our Financial Reporting team and contribute to building a world-class finance function. This role is ideal for a fully qualified Chartered Accountant with an audit background. You will work on scaling Monzo in a controlled manner, optimizing financial reporting processes with technology, and supporting exciting upcoming challenges such as EU expansion, new product integrations, climate change reporting, and business growth.
Responsibilities
- Understand the business and products to write insightful management commentary.
- Collaborate with engineers and data teams to automate reporting elements.
- Optimize the use of the accounting system to minimize manual reporting tasks.
- Ensure financial reporting policies, procedures, and controls are up-to-date, relevant, scalable, and useful.
- Support the full year-end process, including drafting the annual report and liaising with external auditors.
- Review new products, assess accounting implications, and implement them in the banking platform and accounting system.
- Assess the impact of accounting standard changes and propose accounting policies for new products.
- Maintain and develop controls to protect financial data and balance sheet substantiation.
- Assist with the implementation of a new accounting system to minimize manual reporting.
- Support the production of ESG sustainability reporting and disclosures.
- Prepare monthly management and ad hoc reports with meaningful analysis.
- Review and assess the accounting impact of new contracts, collaborating with business and legal teams.
- Support internal finance team processes for a swift month-end close.
- Resolve miscellaneous inquiries and support the overall finance team, including forecasting, valuations, bank transfers, and tax policy research.
Requirements
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA or CA).
- Audit experience combined with financial reporting and control experience outside of practice.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Fascination with the banking and regulatory landscape.
- Good understanding of key financial controls.
- Self-starter comfortable tackling various tasks.
- Ability to translate complex information into simple terms for diverse audiences.
- Highly comfortable leveraging data to automate reporting and drive efficiency.
- Experience in a listed company or financial services regulated environment (preferred).
- US reporting/SOX compliance experience (preferred).
- Strong business partnering/commercial financial acumen (preferred).
- ESG reporting/audit of sustainability information experience (preferred).
