Responsibilities
- You will care for, feed, and look after the dogs, cats, exotic animals, birds, and small animals in the shelter.
- You will be assigned to a specific animal area (e.g., dogs or cats) but will also help out in other animal houses as needed.
- A significant part of the job involves daily feeding, cleaning, disinfection, and setting up animal accommodations.
- You will monitor the animals' well-being and be responsible for their veterinary care.
- You will ensure variety, socialization, and sufficient activity for the animals, working with volunteers to make shy cats more approachable and active dogs get enough exercise daily.
- You will be the first point of contact for interested parties and visitors, advising them on species-appropriate keeping and suitable shelter animals before adoption, both in person and via email and phone.
- In adoption interviews, you will clarify the needs of potential adopters and animals, aiming to find the right home for each animal.
Requirements
- Completed training in an animal-related profession, such as animal keeper or veterinary assistant (m/f/d), or several years of professional experience in the animal sector.
- Sociable and confident in dealing with people and animals, even in difficult situations.
- Willingness to learn about new animal areas and face new challenges.
- Team player and communicative, but also able to work independently.
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays.

Salary/Compensations
- Monthly gross salary between €2,481.75 and €3,403.58 for a full-time position (40 hours), depending on training and professional experience.
