Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand customer business needs, underlying priorities, and their application to individual client companies and the Japanese market.
  • Translate business needs into complete and logical product requirements for defining and maintaining a functional backlog.
  • Own the functional backlog, scrutinizing, ordering, and prioritizing it based on outcome-oriented goals, coordinating with other internal teams as needed.
  • Work closely with developers within the Agile development process to make tactical decisions, handle exceptions, and ensure the technical team fully understands the intent of the requirements.
  • Represent the product management team in interactions with the technical team, ensuring alignment between product intent and implementation.
  • Participate in Agile events, including sprint planning and backlog refinement, as well as daily stand-ups and retrospectives.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the team's operational processes and drive their implementation.
  • Approve completed features after verifying they meet acceptance criteria.
  • Actively leverage the human network within partner companies to resolve questions, validate assumptions, and gather information.

Requirements

  • Possess experience in Guidewire projects and make reasonable efforts to obtain relevant certifications within one month of assignment, unless otherwise agreed upon, if not already holding the necessary certifications.
  • Hold at least an Associate level certification in at least one Guidewire product, with exceptions as noted.
  • Have practical experience in system implementation projects for the insurance industry, able to explain how business requirements translate into specific changes in Guidewire products.
  • Possess English proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking) sufficient for independent communication with global product teams and for presenting to and influencing diverse stakeholders.
  • Have strong Japanese reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  • Demonstrate a sense of responsibility for results, drive decision-making, and possess a high degree of ownership to perform tasks without continuous instruction.
  • Be proficient in Agile product development methodologies, including backlog management and sprint events.
