About the Role

Gallery Books seeks an energetic and enthusiastic Editorial Assistant to support an Executive and Senior Editor. The role involves supporting editors focused on various genres of nonfiction and fiction, including humor, memoir, pop culture, suspense, and commercial fiction. The ideal candidate will be a voracious reader with a deep interest in pop culture and celebrity nonfiction.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and evaluating manuscripts for acquisition
  • General administrative duties
  • Organizing and scheduling meetings in MS Outlook
  • Close and frequent communication with authors and agents by phone and email
  • Expense tracking
  • Handling all aspects of the production process
  • Project research and fact-finding

Requirements

  • Familiarity with the book production process and publishing
  • Meticulous attention to detail and top-notch organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to anticipate needs and take initiative to solve problems
  • Capacity to manage multiple (and often competing) deadlines
  • Calm under pressure
