About the Role
Designer, Architecture role at GFT Infrastructure, Inc. in Chicago, IL, with a hybrid work environment. Responsibilities include preparing project documentation, generating cost estimates, performing architectural calculations, gathering product information, supporting studies and reports, assisting with drawing setup and revisions, creating 3D imaging, learning code evaluation procedures, coordinating with team members, and managing construction phase tasks. Effective communication and presentation skills are essential. A portfolio may be requested.
Responsibilities
- Prepare project documents including plans, details, and initial setup work.
- Generate takeoffs for cost estimates and perform architectural calculations to support design activities.
- Gather and record product information and cut sheets for cost estimating and specifications.
- Support efforts for studies and reports.
- Assist with the preparation of routine technical reports or sections of reports.
- Assist with sheet setup on project drawings, drawing schedules, plans, elevations, sections, details, and specifications.
- Assist with the pickup of redline markings on drawings and completion of work.
- Prepare 3D imaging using proprietary software for client and in-house preparations.
- Learn basic code evaluation procedures and information gathering requirements.
- Coordinate work with other team members.
- Manage project work during construction, including submittal tasks, RFIs, supplemental work, and submittal review.
- Utilize effective communication skills for internal communications and assigned presentations.
Requirements
- Must have Bachelor’s in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
- Requires 2 years of relevant experience in architecture.
- Requires 2 years of experience in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
- Requires 2 years of experience in Revit.
- Requires 2 years of experience in SketchUp.
- Requires 2 years of experience in graphic software including AutoCad, Enscape, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- May undergo background checks including drug screen and motor vehicle record check.
