About the Role

As a Principal Consultant, you will provide technical and delivery leadership across some of NTT DATA's largest Data & AI engagements, leading the end-to-end delivery of enterprise AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science projects from discovery through to production deployment and value realization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of enterprise AI, Machine Learning and Data Science projects from discovery through to production deployment and value realization.
• Partner with business and technology leaders to identify opportunities where AI can solve meaningful business problems.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Data Engineers and Solution Architects.
• Design scalable AI solutions spanning predictive analytics, optimisation, forecasting, recommendation systems, natural language processing and Generative AI.
• Guide clients through the full Machine Learning lifecycle including experimentation, feature engineering, model development, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Design modern AI architectures using Azure, Databricks and Snowflake ecosystems.
• Help clients establish production-ready AI capabilities including MLOps, Responsible AI, model governance and AI operating models.
• Lead client workshops, architecture reviews and executive steering committees.
• Shape solution approaches during pre-sales engagements, RFx responses and proposal development.
• Mentor senior consultants, Data Scientists and ML Engineers while helping grow NTT DATA's AI capability.
• Contribute to reusable frameworks, accelerators, reference architectures and thought leadership across AI and Data Science.

Requirements

• 12+ years' experience delivering enterprise Data Science, Machine Learning or AI solutions.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex AI projects from business problem definition through to production deployment.
• Strong consulting experience working directly with enterprise clients and executive stakeholders.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary delivery teams across Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering and Architecture.
• Proven ability to balance technical leadership with commercial outcomes and client relationship management.
• Deep practical experience across several of the following areas: Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistical modelling, Predictive analytics, Forecasting, Optimisation, Recommendation engines, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision (desirable), Deep Learning, Feature engineering, Model evaluation and experimentation, Production AI systems, MLOps, Model monitoring and governance.
• Practical experience with modern Generative AI technologies including: Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), AI orchestration frameworks, Prompt engineering, Vector databases, Agentic AI architectures, AI evaluation frameworks, Responsible AI.
• Strong experience with several of the following technologies: Python, SQL, Spark, Databricks, Azure AI Services, Azure Machine Learning, Microsoft Fabric (desirable), Snowflake, MLflow, Git, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes (desirable).
• Excellent client engagement and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive audiences.
• Experience leading workshops, discovery sessions and solution design engagements.
• Commercial awareness with experience supporting proposals, RFx responses and solution estimation.
• Strong mentoring and coaching capability.
• A passion for developing AI capability and growing technical teams.
• Personally built and delivered AI solutions—not simply advised organizations on AI strategy.
• Recognized by peers as someone who understands how Machine Learning works in practice, can engage confidently with senior executives, and enjoys helping organizations adopt AI responsibly and at scale.
• Equally comfortable discussing model performance with Data Scientists as presenting AI roadmaps to CIOs and business executives.
• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or a related quantitative discipline (Highly Desirable).
• Azure AI Engineer Associate, Azure Data Scientist Associate, Databricks Machine Learning Professional, Snowflake AI or equivalent certifications (Highly Desirable).
• Experience building enterprise MLOps capabilities (Highly Desirable).
• Experience establishing Responsible AI governance frameworks (Highly Desirable).
• Experience delivering AI solutions in regulated industries (Highly Desirable).
• Contributions to open-source AI projects, publications or conference presentations (Highly Desirable).
