About the Role
We are seeking a dependable Service Electrician/Mechanic with over 6 years of field experience to install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in residential and commercial properties throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC. This role requires driving a company work van and ensuring all work complies with electrical codes.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, repair, and replace electrical wiring, lighting, and other components in homes and commercial buildings.
- Perform service upgrades including service switches, meter sockets, end boxes, and sleeve installations.
- Install service backboard and electrical support systems.
- Complete electrical system installations for remodeling and new construction projects.
- Install temporary lighting & power, circuit breaker panels, feeder cables & conduit, and perform rough-in and trim-out.
- Pull and terminate cables.
- Install conduit & pull wires.
- Collaborate with GC’s and other trades to plan electrical layouts.
- Ensure work complies with NYC Electrical Code, National Electrical Codes (NEC), and Utility Requirements.
- Inspect electrical systems for safety and code compliance.
- Use hand and power tools for project completion.
- Install low-voltage (LV) systems, including lighting, doorbell/intercom wiring, and boiler wiring.
- Install home automation systems for lighting, climate control, security, and entertainment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics.
- Test electrical systems and components to identify issues.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and perform necessary repairs.
- Assist other electricians.
- Assign duties to Electrician Helpers.
- Adhere to all safety standards and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Provide excellent customer service and build client relationships.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 6+ years of field experience required.
- Must be able to complete installations independently.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Proficiency in understanding the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NYC Electrical Code.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Successful completion of a practical examination is required before hire.
