About the Role

FSA Federal is seeking a Paralegal II to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) mission. This role contributes to a nationwide law enforcement initiative aimed at removing criminal tools, impacting criminal enterprises, and depriving wrongdoers of illicit proceeds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with organizing and tracking incoming documents and correspondence, including productions pursuant to subpoenas and civil investigative demands.
  • Maintain calendars for United States Attorney staff, providing reminders for deadlines and meetings.
  • Perform searches to locate potential witnesses.
  • Examine documents such as medical records, financial records, reports, correspondence, and computer data.
  • Provide recommendations and overall assistance to United States Attorney staff regarding document compilation.
  • Conduct investigative research using legal research tools (training provided).
  • Prepare initial drafts of correspondence and legal documents for attorney signature.
  • Prepare initial drafts of proposed orders for the U.S. District Court.
  • Scan and input case-related materials into an electronic database.
  • Ensure all documents adhere to proper format, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar.
  • Assist the Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) unit by fostering good working relationships with client agencies and the public.

Requirements

  • Paralegal Certificate or High School Diploma/GED with at least three years of paralegal experience.
  • At least 2 years of legal or administrative experience.
  • Automated litigation support experience is very helpful.
  • Basic paralegal knowledge, including familiarity with the standard legal citation system for basic legal research.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools.
  • Hands-on familiarity with various computer applications, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.
  • Must possess U.S. Citizenship.
  • Requires a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.
