About the Role

This is a high-impact role that supports the safety, quality, and performance of critical infrastructure projects across the nation. You will be a key technical leader, driving the design and delivery of electrical systems across KBR's six market sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical delivery of LV electrical distribution and customized control system designs across infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on Transport and Water sectors.
  • Drive the design of Motor Control Centres (MCC), Local Control Panels (LCP), Pump Control Systems, and Shore Supply Control Systems featuring tailored interlocking, power transfer, and sequence logic.
  • Perform detailed LV calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination, and system modelling using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare robust technical specifications, single-line diagrams (SLDs), control schematics, wiring diagrams, and functional design specifications (FDS).
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3008) and client-specific infrastructure technical standards (e.g., TfNSW, Sydney Water, WaterNSW).
  • Collaborate effectively with civil, mechanical, SCADA/Instrumentation, and process engineers, as well as clients and contractors, to deliver integrated project outcomes.
  • Provide design review, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

  • Established experience in LV electrical and control system engineering within the infrastructure, transport, or water sectors.
  • Deep experience in LV distribution, Motor Control Centre (MCC) design, Local Control Panel (LCP) layout, hardwired control schematics, relay logic, and interlocks.
  • Proven hands-on experience designing specific control solutions such as Pump Control (duty/standby, VFD/Soft Starter integration) and Shore Supply Control (power changeover, safety interlocks, isolation systems).
  • Proficient in electrical design, calculation, and modelling tools such as PowerCAD, ETAP, or SKM PowerTools.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, excellent client-facing skills, and a track record of meeting project schedules and budget milestones.
  • Experience or familiarity with PLC / SCADA functional requirements (interfaces between hardware controls and automation systems) is ideal.
  • Prior experience in Building Services electrical design or Interior / Exterior Lighting Design experience (e.g., AGi32, Dialux) for building or road projects is favourable.
