About the Role

The Medical Office Assistant serves as the customer service liaison for medical practices, ensuring a seamless patient experience through efficient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and billing processes. In a clinical capacity, they provide patient care under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients with courtesy and respect.
  • Utilize exceptional communication skills.
  • Follow all UHS Policies regarding registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and billing.
  • Perform patient care tasks under the direction of a licensed nurse and/or other authorized healthcare provider.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program or direct patient care experience.
  • Experience includes collection of patient information and data, patient interactions, or assisting physicians with procedures in a medical office or hospital setting.
  • Previous experience in a walk-in, primary care, or specialty care setting is preferred.
  • Certified medical administrative assistant (CMAA) is preferred.
  • Strong clerical background with excellent computer skills is preferred.
  • Documentation of current CPR certification required within 1 week of start of employment.
