About the Role

This individual contributor position manages complex claims, including Employment Practices Liability and Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance, with significant loss exposure. The role involves managing all claim resolution activities in accordance with company protocols while achieving quality and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manages an inventory of complex EPL and Private and Not-For-Profit D&O claims, overseeing all aspects of claim handling, including coverage determinations, investigations, and resolution strategies.
  • Ensures exceptional customer service by driving continuous improvements and achieving quality and cycle time standards.
  • Verifies coverage, sets and manages timely and adequate reserves by reviewing policy language and estimating potential claim valuation.
  • Drives claim resolution by collaborating with internal and external partners to develop and execute a claim resolution strategy.
  • Establishes and manages claim budgets by identifying, selecting, and managing appropriate resources.
  • Achieves quality standards by ensuring company protocols are followed, work is accurate and timely, and claims are resolved and paid promptly.
  • Prepares and presents complex information to senior leadership, customers, counsel, and others.
  • Maintains subject matter expertise and ensures compliance with state/local regulatory requirements.
  • Mentors, guides, develops, and delivers training to less experienced Claim Professionals.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable.
  • Advanced negotiation experience.
  • Professional designations are highly encouraged (e.g. CPCU).

  • Expert knowledge of Specialty insurance industry, products, policy language, coverage, and claim practices.

  • Extensive experience interpreting Specialty insurance policies and coverage.

  • Ability to lead multiple and shifting priorities in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn business-related software.
  • Demonstrated ability to value diverse opinions and ideas.
